• Rental properties typically provide substantial month-to-month income. Also, it is often possible to rent a portion of your primary residence to help with mortgage payments (i.e. renting a suite). 
• Vacation properties can often pay for themselves with just a couple of weeks of use each year (and can often be rented out when not being used by the owner!). 
• International investments remain possible, and are often an excellent way to balance risk or pursue potentially higher profits. 
• Real estate investments are more straightforward and easy-to-understand than many other types of investments.
